It was first rumored in May, but it’s now official. Instagram will let you know that you’ve seen every new post from the last two days on your News Feed, by showing you a note saying “You’re all caught up“.
After Instagram’s decision to abandon showing posts in chronological order, users constantly demanded from Instagram to bring the feature back, so that they will not have to waste any time looking at posts in random order, most of whom they have already seen.
The research team took into account the user’s feedback, but still did not restore the feature, showing posts in chronological order, not even as an option in the user’s menu bar. Instead, the platform introduced the “You’re all caught up” message, which the company hopes it will satisfy the user’s cravings, maintaining the company’s profitability from the time spent by users online and the sponsored posts at the same time.
For now, Instagram’s algorithm is based on likes and the user’s participation, which results in showing more posts from people that you actively follow and engage with likes and comments.
