Even if they have lost users' trust for many years due to the successive scandals, Facebook is still trying to expand its services. This time they confirmed that they're building their own digital assistant, similar to Siri, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
The company has confirmed on Neowin that the digital assistant will be integrated into the Portal (already operated by Amazon Alexa) and in Oculus virtual and augmented reality devices. Project Leader is said to be Ira Snyder and the preparations has begun since early 2018.
This is not Facebook's first attempt at digital assistant technology, as you can remember M integrated into Facebook Messenger in 2015 to help users perform specific actions. The truth is that it did not go as expected, and that's why it stopped its operation last year.
