We can expect to see an underwater villa later this year. Yes, you read that correctly, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island will open the first undersea villa in the world, accommodating up to nine people, having 2 floors and providing a magnificent view of the surrounding marine life.
Dreamt up by architect Ahmed Saleem and brought to life by engineer Mike Murphy, the two-floor residence flaunts integrated living spaces above and below the Indian Ocean.
“Driven by our inspiration to deliver innovative and transformative experiences to our global travelers, the world's first undersea residence encourages guests to explore the Maldives from an entirely new perspective below the surface of the sea," says Ahmed Saleem, chief architect and designer of the undersea residence and a Director at Crown Company. "Through our rich history of being a trailblazer in innovative luxury hospitality, we are proud to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge design, technology and architecture."
Muted hues, modern touches, and artful editing by Yuji Yamazaki lend a minimal sensibility. The standout, not surprisingly, is the submerged king-size bedroom, surrounded by infinite shades of blue. Additionally, the house will feature an undersea master suite with a king size bed (amazing view), double bathroom, undersea lounge area and an expansive curved acrylic dome window offering 180-degree views of the marine life. The lower part of the villa will be located 5 meters below the sea level. The upper part will feature one king size bedroom, twin-size bedrooms, two bathrooms powder room, an integrated living room, open kitchen, bar and dinning area.
So, if you fancy a nice underwater vacation with your partner, this villa might be what you have been looking for. The villa will be available from November 2018 and its starting price will be US$855 per night, per couple.
